Testosterone for low libido as part of menopause prescribing will not be prescribed by Douglas Street Surgery GPs.
It is not licensed for this treatment and there is a low evidence base for its use. Safety data currently only exists for 2 years use.
We have been in discussion with Lanarkshire Medical Committee regarding this.
We have been in touch with the menopause clinic directly however they do not have capacity to see patients for testosterone prescribing as part of menopause management.
If a patient still wishes to be prescribed testosterone for low libido as part of their menopause care this will need to be done via the private sector.
